So for todays tops post I will be sharing with you my top 8 tips to get the highest price on Ebay, enjoy!
8 selling tips for students to get the highest price on Ebay
I am sure everyone has sold something on Ebay at some point but do you believe you get the best possible price for the item you are selling? I am confident most peoples answer will be “no” because the majority of people, stick there item on Ebay with no real thought and just wait for the money to roll in, but if your doing this then your missing out! I believe with a few simple changes everyone can get a higher price on Ebay, lets give it a go!
1. Have a picture - One of the most basic necessities when selling something on Ebay is a picture, if you don’t have one you’re going to be losing out big time! So make sure you have atleast one, preferably a couple to give the readers a better impression of the item you are selling. Make sure all photos are clear, uncluttered with a plain background.
2. Pick the correct category – There are over 50,000 categories so its essential your picking the right category so your potential buyers can find your product easier. If you’re selling a CD for example, don’t just put it in the CD category, be more specific, select the type of music and the date of release aswell. This way people looking for your Beatles album, will be able to find it much easier, rather than having to look through millions of listings in the CD section.
3. Be as descriptive as possible - Ensure that you give as much information as possible to potential buyers, give any piece of information that you think they would need to know about the product. Give specifications, dimensions, the quality, the size, how many times its been used, you get the message!
4. Good customer service – From my experience on Ebay, even if you think your description is perfect and covers everything you will always get asked some kind of question. So regardless of the type of question its extremely important to reply back to all these enquiries quickly being as helpfull as possible.
5. Sell at the right time – One of the biggest things that can affect price, is the time of listing, you want to be reaching the biggest audience possible, so if your bored at 3 in the morning, it’s not the best time to start selling your stuff on Ebay because there will be a considerably less amount of people shopping online. Apparantly the best time to sell is between 8pm – 9pm, after everyones had there dinner,so try and sell as close to this time as possible.
6. Accept different forms of payment – The key on Ebay if you havn’t realised is to cater for the largest audience possible, so the less accomodating you are for all types of buyers, the less amount of money your likely to get. So when accpeting payment, try and offer the most you possibly can, a good starting place is Paypal, cheque and postal order.
7. Make delivery as cheap as possible – One of the first things many buyers will look at is delivery costs, so a great way to attract them is to have a low delivery cost, even free if you can afford it! Obviously it’s not great losing money before you have even started, but this can be a great way of getting a higher price in the long run.
8. Dont price yourself out of the market -I think the biggest mistake you can ever make on Ebay is having a high starting price, it won’t attract bids and will put the majority of people off. You want to start low, get attention and build momentum! A good analagy I read was if there are 2 restaurants side by side, one emtpy and one full of people, which restaurant are you more likely to go in? This is exactly the same with Ebay bids, so try and attract as many as possible.
When everyone is next selling an item on Ebay, I strongly recommend that you take all these tips on board and if you do I am confident you will get a much higher selling price, it’s suprising how much difference a few of these simple changes can make. I hope you have all enjoyed the first top tips post back and if you have any of your own Ebay selling tips it would be great to hear them?
